HOT TAPPING CASE STUDY

Client: Center Parcs, Longleat

The problem:

Longleat Center Parcs acquired gas fed industrial boilers for their new spa. 

To feed the boilers, new branches on their existing underground MDPE gas installation was required. 

The gas supply was constantly in demand, therefore it could not be shut off and the works had to be done live. 

Ormond were brought in to do three 6” hot tappings on to an 8” MDPE gas supply.   

Our solution: 

Ormond attached hot tapping clamps to the existing gas pipework. 

After successful pressure tests, we began to under pressure drill the new branches. 

Once the live tappings were complete, safety blanks were attached to the valves. 

Hot tapping the connections avoided plant downtime and gas purging, which saved time and expense.
