Client: Bailey Johns Ltd, on behalf of Wavin Ltd, a global manufacturer and supplier of drainage piping.
The problem: Wavin had a faulty solenoid valve which was restricting the gas flow to their appliances. It was determined that a new solenoid valve was required. To replace the existing valve, alterations to the gas pipework were necessary. To safely amend the pipework, the gas installation had to be indirectly purged out.
Our solution: Our commercial gas engineers first conducted a nitrogen purge on the existing pipework. This made it safe for hot works such as welding and grinding. Once the gas pipework was complete, the new solenoid valve was installed. We then performed a gas tightness test to make sure the existing installation met current Gas Safe standards. A direct purge to gas was undertaken and finally a Gas Safe certificate was issued.
