The client: Ormond Pipework Services Ltd are a trusted supplier to Cool Logic. As a leading hot tapping specialist, we were sub-contracted by Cool Logic to work on Arla Foods' water pipework.
The problem: Arla Foods required two new branches on their chilled water supply to feed a new air handling unit.
Turning off and draining the system was not feasible as the client required the plant to remain fully operational to avoid any disruption to production.
We were brought in to install a new flow and return by hot tapping the connections. Hot tapping allowed the chilled water system to remain live and avoid any disruption or downtime.
Our solution: Our engineers attached two 4” on 6” hot tapping clamps to the existing stainless steel pipework.
After a successful pressure test, we began to under pressure drill the new flow and return.
Once the live tapping’s were complete, safety blanks were attached to the valves.
Ormond’s hot tapping services avoided slowdown in production, which saved time and expense.
