Commercial Gas Pipework Installation Ellesmere Port
Client: Vauxhall, Ellesmere Port
The problem:
Vauxhall needed two new control heat plants (CHP) which required a 3” steel gas pipework supply.
The operating pressure was at 320mb, therefore only qualified commercial Gas Safe engineers were allowed to work on the new gas installation.
Our solution:
The Gas Safe registered commercial engineers at Ormond Pipework Services Ltd, were brought in to install the steel pipework.
Because the pipework had to be 3”, in accordance to IGEM/UP/2 Gas Safe regulations, all joints above 2” have to be welded.
The reason why joints cannot be threaded above 2” is due to their tendency to leak.
To keep in line with Gas Safe standards, Ormond used MMA welding to seal the 3” pipework.
Once the installation was complete a gas tightness test and direct purge was undertaken.
After a successful test and purge a commercial Gas Safe certificate was issued, ensuring the new gas installation was ready to use.
Tasks involved:
Steel pipework fabrication & installation
Gas purging
Gas tightness test
Gas pipework commissioning
Gas Safe certificate
